Didn't get into drama school this year?
This year can still be the making of you.
You worked hard. You prepared. You showed up. And it didn't go the way you hoped. That's genuinely hard, and you're allowed to feel it. But it doesn't mean it's over. It means this year matters more than ever, and what you do with it will make all the difference to what happens next.
This page is for young performers who auditioned for drama school or college this year and didn't get the result they were hoping for. Whether you're planning to reapply, exploring new colleges, or just not quite sure what comes next, you're in the right place.
You might be feeling lost about how to use this year productively. You might be worried about losing momentum. You might just want someone to tell you what to actually do.
That's exactly what Madden Theatre Arts is here for.

A BIT ABOUT ME
I'm Savanna, founder of Madden Theatre Arts. For well over a decade, MTA has been a home for young performers at every stage of their journey, from their very first class to their drama school auditions and everything in between. We're proud of the young people we've supported and the results they've gone on to achieve.
But this programme came from something more personal than that.
Earlier in my own performing career, I lost my voice. Not just physically, although that was part of it. I mean the deeper kind of loss, the kind where something you've built your whole identity around is suddenly taken away and you don't know who you are without it. Learning to rebuild that, to find my way back to performance and to my own confidence, taught me more about this industry and about young performers than any qualification ever could.
So when I see a talented young person sitting with a drama school rejection, feeling lost about what comes next, I understand that feeling in a way that goes beyond professional experience. And I know that what they need isn't just practical advice. They need someone who genuinely believes in them while they find their way back.
That's what this programme is built on. If you'd like to have a conversation before signing up, I'd love to hear from you.
A NOTE FOR PARENTS
If you're a parent or carer reading this alongside your young person, thank you for being here. I know this year hasn't been easy for your family, and I want you to know that everything we do at MTA is built around genuine care, proper structure, and real results.
Whether your young person went into their auditions feeling underprepared, or whether they did absolutely everything right and still didn't get the yes they deserved, the gap year can feel like uncertain territory. This programme gives them a clear path through it. Structure, expert guidance, a small and supportive peer group, and someone experienced in their corner from July right through to May.
All in-person sessions are held in Hitchin in a small, safe group setting with a maximum of ten young people.
If you'd like to speak with me directly before your young person joins, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm very happy to have that conversation.
